Job Description

Cricut has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer on our Materials Quality Team. You will be responsible for developing test plans and completing mechanical and user testing for new and existing materials based on standardized test methods, developed test plans and sequence of procedure (SOP) documents. You should be able to analyze test data, provide conclusions based on the data and support QA concerns in meetings with cross-functional and project teams. You are responsible for ensuring that all new product development reaches market with the ideal experience for our members.

  • Learn quickly and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Use mechanical and scientific testing equipment, including tensile testing machines, microscopes, DSC, thermal imaging scanners, UV/environmental chambers and others.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of heat transfer and polymer science
  • Use current Cricut products Explore, Maker, Joy, EasyPress and other products/tools.
  • Use Cricut software – Design Space and other internal systems.
  • Show a desire for hands-on engineering – understand the product from the user’s perspective
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills – verbal and written communication.
  • Be a self-starter, capable of working independently.
  • Maintain high attention to detail even while working on repetitive tasks.
  • Work on multiple projects at one time without error.
  • Develop and improve testing methodology, test plans and SOP’s.
  • Support other qualification activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineers with experience in TFES, materials and/or solid mechanics preferred.
  • 3-5+ years quality and/or engineering experience, with experience in polymer materials, heat transfer materials or consumer electronics manufacturing preferred.
  • 1-3 years of direct experience in product development.
  • Strong math skills and knowledge of key engineering concepts and measurements.
  • Strong fundamentals in QA and R&D methodologies and procedures.
  • Must possess a very solid understanding of materials testing methodologies, ASTM/ISO standards and other international standards
  • Expertise in using scientific measurement equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with hands-on engineering and willingness to perform extensive testing (scientific and user testing)
  • Experience with improving or developing test methodology and procedures
  • Ability to collect, analyze and present data and findings from testing to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Previous experience with Cricut products and materials strongly preferred.
  • Experience in polymers, adhesives and soft goods preferred
  • Experience with heat transfer materials and/or heat presses/bonders preferred.
