Staff Accountant (St George)

Candidate for the Accountant position will be responsible for the recurring accounting and bookkeeping for multiple small companies, guidance and oversight of clerks, assist with new client set up, and managing internal office operations. Primary Responsibilities will be to perform accounting duties based upon service agreements, including but not limited to:

Prepare and post both daily sales entries and month end accrual journal entries

Assist with month-end close procedures, account reconciliations, and financial reports

Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded property

Assist in creating and maintaining updated accounting processes for new and existing contracts

Understand and provide services according to the service agreements and task lists, understand time expectations if specified, and notify supervisors of unforeseen, or difficult issues not initially communicated or not part of normal operations for recurring contracts

Identify assets requiring capitalization, maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries based upon clients accounting method (GAAP vs. Tax deprecation)

File sales tax returns

Resolving transactional and reconciliation discrepancies/issues, including proactively resolving accounting issues with minimal guidance

Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable as needed

Prepare adhoc reports as needed

Provide support for client audit and tax return requests

Special projects as assigned

Identify process improvement areas for both the company and clients Oversee and support clerk accounting tasks, identify processes that have not been cross trained by various accounting staff

Oversee office operations including maintaining a well equipped office,

Managing staff hours, and keeping manager updated as to staff issues noted

Communications with management as they relate to internal business operations.

We are offering the qualified candidate an opportunity to work between 30 and 40 hours a week.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in accounting

Strong excel skills (financial, math, & logical functions, advanced formulas, charts and graphing)

Experience QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, certified a plus

Demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and month end procedures to include account reconciliations.

Expert time management skills, including the ability to multitask

Ability to generate and maintain policies and client procedures, including identifying areas for process improvement

Ability to train and support clerk level staff with daily transactional entries

Minimum of 3 years accounting experience

Competencies:

Should be detail oriented with strong analytical skills

Must be organized and able to multi-task

Excellent Communication skills with the ability to discern when to communicate to individual supervising managers and when to communicate to all supervising managers.
