Job Description:The Rehabilitation Manager has both leadership and clinical responsibilities. This role is accountable for implementing and adhering to all system best practice standards. Additionally, this role ensures that Rehabilitation Services achieves and sustains excellence in patient safety, patient experience, quality, access, and stewardship and continually drives toward achieving One Intermountain.ScopeThe Rehabilitation Manager typically has the following accountabilities:Leadership of approximately 25 to 50 employees.Subtotal expenses greater than $1 million.Other factors that may be considered when evaluating the scope of a Rehabilitation Manager position are number of locations, number of disciplines, and STE/workload/revenue.Job EssentialsApproves, creates, and supervises new programs in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders. Evaluates current programs/projects and determines need for revisions.

Participates in creating and implementing the department's vision, direction, and continuous improvement process, managing patient care teams, and providing direct patient care. Leads staff in defining patient services, setting standards for patient care, and identifying resources to meet patient needs. Assists with establishing accountabilities for job performance and evaluation.

Identifies staffing needs and oversees recruiting, hiring, terminating, disciplinary action, and scheduling to maintain adequate services and ensure both individual and team productivity. Provides performance management and conducts annual performance reviews. Orients and trains new employees, providing continuing education and in-services to staff. Provides mentoring, staff development, and instruction/supervision to supervisors and frontline staff. Ensures each team member complies with professional licensure and credentialing, hospital policies and procedures, and third party regulatory requirements.

Participates in marketing and strategic planning. Develops and enhances relationships with physicians, referral sources, and customers.

May be responsible for or assist with managing operating budget.

Maintains current knowledge of standard practices for discipline in each age group required by work assignment. Ensures that practice is compliant with regulations, changes in practice are communicated appropriately, and changes are made in a timely manner.

Identifies alternative, innovative means of providing care to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Assists staff in identifying appropriate areas for quality monitoring and in developing meaningful monitors. Leads staff in program development and establishes new procedures to improve patient care, improve efficient use of resources, and optimize patient outcomes. Ensures clinical quality of services provided by team members.

Oversees caregivers to ensure documentation for each patient is done in a complete, thorough, appropriate, and timely manner, according to regulatory, hospital, department, and team requirements. Ensures provision of appropriate services and appropriate documentation from team members. Prepares billing in an accurate and timely manner.

Promotes appropriate and consistent interaction and communication among team members and other professionals. Promotes effective working relationships among staff to facilitate achieving goals and objectives.

Ensures that equipment is reliable and in good working condition. Arranges for timely repair, engineering safety inspections, and calibration per manufacturer recommendations.

Minimum QualificationsDegree and education in Rehabilitation profession consistent with licensure requirements (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Audiology, Athletic Trainer, and Exercise Physiology).

Current and applicable rehabilitation license to practice in the state of Utah.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Three years of previous experience as a practicing rehabilitation professional.

Experience in developing and promoting programs and/or initiatives in a related setting.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's or Doctorate degree.

Leadership experience.
