POSITION SUMMARY

The Vehicle Mechanic effectively and safely maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all Stratton vehicles. The primary function is to ensure that the corporate vehicles and equipment are mechanically secure and maintained preventively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Address break downs and driver reports safely and efficiently
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
  • Be aware of and follow OSHA guidelines in regards to Vehicle Mechanic and Shop requirements
  • Evaluate vehicle or equipment for job task
  • Estimate materials and labor for job task and submit purchase requests
  • Complete work orders and other required paperwork for record keeping purposes for all vehicles/equipment worked on
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance and ensure that they are accomplished in a safe and timely manner
  • Must be willing to assist as needs above and beyond basic job duties arise
  • Must be willing and able to assist with parking and transportation tasks as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent, mechanical certification and other relevant certification programs a plus (welding and fabrication, OSHA, hydraulics, heavy equipment etc.)

Experience: Must have 1-5 years of relevant experience

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have knowledge in passenger vehicles, heavy equipment, and small engines and be strongly qualified in 1 of the three areas
  • Must have basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical repairs.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule including nights.
  • Must be prepared to work in adverse conditions.
  • Must be able to project the image established by the Stratton Corporation.
  • Must have basic tool inventory and a willingness to build on it with time.
  • Must have a driver’s license and meet the minimum requirements of the Intrawest Driver’s Standards Policy
  • Must be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Hazmat and passenger endorsements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

SHOP ENVIRONMENT:

  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and other shop equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate tools and other shop equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on a constant basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: non slip footwear, gloves, eye protection, ear protection, respirators and other PPE as required by the task at hand.
  • The secondary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold,snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, andpainting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
