POSITION SUMMARY

The Outdoor Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role, working side by side with team members. This position is responsible for the upkeep and appearance of all outdoor guest facing areas. This includes but is not limited to snow and ice removal, spring cleanup, grass cutting, tree trimming, garden bed planting/weeding, and leaf removal. Prior experience in landscaping/snow removal and/or heavy equipment operation is preferred, but not required. This position has 4 direct reports in winter, so effective staff management and delegation skills are essential. Qualified candidates will be flexible, able to effectively respond to a changing set of demands from guests, superiors and mother nature. Candidates should understand and possess qualities that would benefit a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Working as a member of a team
  • Providing extraordinary guest service
  • Supervision and delegation of daily tasks, as determined by manager
  • Supervision of weekly grounds maintenance checklist (summer season)
  • Supervision of daily snow and ice removal checklist (winter season)
  • Safe operation and maintenance of Resort Appearance machinery and equipment
  • Special maintenance and repair projects as required
  • Special events, this position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: Highschool Diploma or GED

Experience: Prior experience in landscaping and/or snow removal, heavy machinery operation, guest service, leadership/staff management preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Mountain Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold,snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, andpainting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
