Wage Range: $42-50k, depending on previous job experience and desired overtime
Days and Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; occasional overtime; Year-round
Location: Based out of Horsford Gardens & Nursery at 2111 Greenbush Road in Charlotte, Vermont.
Distinctive Landscaping designs and installs landscapes of all sizes. We take pride in installing award-winning, functional landscape designs. Job requires leadership skills, proficiency with equipment, masonry and hardscape skills, plant knowledge, and mastery of landscape installations. We are based out of Horsford Garden’s & Nursery in Charlotte, VT.
Landscaping Responsibilities:
-Oversee and work with other crew members to install a wide range of landscapes designed by Distinctive Landscaping, Inc.
-Schedule your own jobs in terms of labor, machinery, and materials
-Participate in a weekly meeting with other forepersons and designers for scheduling, problem-solving, and planning
-Load and unload trucks at the beginning and end of the day with materials, plants, tools, and equipment
-Operate a number of basic and high-end equipment and machinery, such as: skid steers, excavators, dump trucks, carpentry tools, laser transits, shovels, wheelbarrows
-Prepare job sites – grading, excavating, and organizing job sites
-Install, plant, and build landscapes and hardscapes
-Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and respectful work environment
-Arrive to work promptly in the morning
-Ability to stay focused and on task while working independently
Plowing Responsibilities:
-Oversee and work with three or four other crew members to plow commercial properties in the Burlington area
-Oversee and install salt as needed
-Communicate directly with property managers
Skills and Work Conditions:
-Minimum of five years of experience in the landscape or construction industry is preferred
-Ability to work with a team and independently, always in a safe and respectful manner
-Willingness to give and take instructions and eagerness to learn new skills
-Capable of physically demanding outdoor work – staying on your feet, moving, or kneeling for extended periods of time
-Ability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a work day
-Willingness to work outside in the elements of a Vermont spring, summer, and fall
Types of Installations:
-Hardscapes – stone patios, steps, and walkways
-Plant Installations – Trees of all sizes, shrubs, perennial gardens, ground covers, bed preparation
-Site Work – Demolition of existing landscapes, preparing and grading job sites, driveway installations
-Masonry – Dry-laid retaining and freestanding stone walls
-Carpentry – Wooden decks, fences, pergolas, gazebos, pool and tool sheds
-Recreational – swimming pools, lawns
-Maintenance – our company does a small amount of contracted spring and fall maintenance for select clients each year
