The Dealer Brand & Identity team within Dealer.com Engineering is responsible for the creation and enhancement of the products consumers interact with on our website platform as well as the tools used to manage that experience. Whether it's guiding a shopper's journey to find their perfect vehicle, serving personalized content, or the ability to search the full site for information of interest, our team is responsible for making each experience effortless and successful. We work closely with our partners to ensure the right work is prioritized to meet the needs of our customers and the consumer by balancing customization against feature enhancement and core product. Job Summary: Our Software Engineers are energetic influencers who thrive on designing simple and scalable solutions to complex problems and delivering leading edge software products for our customers. We are looking for exceptionally ambitious and communicative hands-on individuals who are comfortable collaborating within the Agile methodology as part of a cross-functional team, have experience working in fast-paced environments, and who have the passion and skills to take our product offerings to the next level. The Software Engineer I writes and maintains code within applications and systems to implement capabilities and features, improve performance and maintainability, while reducing technical debt in alignment with product and technology roadmaps. The Software Engineer I plays a role in Agile planning, providing advice and guidance, and monitoring emerging trends. This position is open on the Dealer Brand & Identity Release Train, which includes Seamless Websites, Design System, Tagging Management, Stability/Performance and AWS implementation, which includes the technology platform that supports over 15,000 individual websites. Our Dealer Brand & Identity team is highly dynamic and creates new solutions to change the way people buy, sell, and own cars. Examples of Technologies We Use: Java, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks (jQuery, Angular.js, React, etc), Spring, Grails, Hibernate, MySQL, Solr, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, HTML5 (Bootstrap), CSS3 (CSS/Sass), Cloud-based infrastructure (ie AWS), XML, Templating, Git Your Role:
  • Write testable, readable, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications to enhance performance and reliability of our current applications
  • Development of new industry-leading products, with proven advanced technologies
  • Design and develop service-oriented architecture solutions, constructing and managing services published to both internal and external consumers, integrating with complex database and third-party components
  • Collaborate with developer scrum team members on best practices, code reviews, internal tools and process improvements
  • Possesses proficient platform-based knowledge in domain and systems thinking
  • Provides guidance and mentorship for new team members and share new technical insight to the greater team

Qualifications: Required:
  • Position requires a BA/BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in multi-threaded server-side web application development, implementing web applications & Object-oriented design
