Crops and Soils Coordinator (#S1803PO)

As a member of the University of Vermont Extension, conduct an integrated and comprehensive educational and research program in the areas of crop and soil management. Plan, implement, and evaluate education and research programs provided to the local farming community in the area of crop, soil and nutrient management. Manage cereal grain, hop, and forage quality testing laboratory including developing standard operating procedures and safety protocols, maintaining equipment, and supervising laboratory workers. Lead day to day operations of the laboratory that is both for research and public use. Report to the UVM Extension Agronomic Specialist.

Work with Agronomic Specialist to analyze, interpret, and report research data in farmer friendly formats. Develop these farmer friendly formats for distribution through websites, social media, and other IT technologies. Prepare to assist in the preparation of educational materials that are relevant, and that enhance the educational process for the farming community.

Participate in the UVM Extension Agricultural Team, a multi-disciplinary team of Extension Professionals, to comprehensively address current agricultural issues across the state. Maintain working relationships with existing agencies and agricultural business organizations to strengthen or extend agricultural programs.

Bachelor's degree in related field with two years' experience related to agriculture in soils and agronomic management, and analytical skills for laboratory analysis of grain, hop, and forage quality. Program main office location is St. Albans with this position working primarily out of the lab on campus in Burlington. Applicants must have the ability to travel from site to site.
