The Institute for Defense Analyses' Information Technology department is seeking an individual that is technically savvy and customer service oriented to join our team as a mid-level System Administrator. The System Administrator II serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems at multiple classification levels. This position applies functional knowledge to solve an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Due to the nature of this position, and the requirement for extended coverage, this position may be required to work hours outside of a regular schedule. #ITatIDA Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include maintaining systems functionality, availability, security, and performance. Contributes and plays a key role in the implementation of programs or projects that effect the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Provides daily operational support and maintenance of enterprise systems including Exchange, CommVault, Citrix, and VMWare.
  • Configure and deploy both physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers.
  • Builds and implements IT technology initiatives and partners with the engineering staff to ensure successful deployment, project delivery, support, and documentation.
  • Builds new physical and virtual servers to design specifications with automation or scripting technologies to streamline operational tasks.
  • Administers and maintains classified and unclassified systems and services to ensure optimum performance and availability.
  • Provision, manage, and support multiple EMC storage systems, such as ISILON, Data Domain, and VMAX.
  • Manage and support virtual desktop systems technologies (e.g. App Layering or App Virtualization, User profile management, & GPU acceleration).
  • Maintains technical documentation, to include standard operating procedures and processes; ensures all systems meet or exceed the business and security requirements in accordance with IDA, DOD, NSA, DISA, and DSS directives and guidelines.
  • Maintains technical proficiency in IT technologies; keeps abreast of industry trends.
  • Communicates and acts as a liaison to all computer network, system and service problems and outages immediately to the SEO supervisors and/or EITO Manager.
  • Provision, manage, and support multiple EMC storage systems, such as ISILON, Data Domain, and VMAX.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field coupled with three years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administration OR high school diploma with five years minimum experience in Information Technology, which includes two years in systems administration.
  • Possess technical and operational proficiency managing and supporting servers, systems, and software, preferably the Microsoft suite of enterprise software.
  • Experience with the following technologies is required: EMC Storage Systems, VMware technologies (ESXi, vSphere, vRealize), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Windows server administration (2012, 2016)
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and able to collaborate with diverse technology teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD 8570 IAT II certification within six (6) month of hire.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
