Systems Engineer - Backup and Storage

Position Location Alexandria, VA LinTech Global is looking for a Systems Engineer with Microsoft Products and Virtualization expertise.

Position Overview The candidate shall provide management, configuration, administration, implementation and optimization of storage devices throughout the OIG network. Additionally, the candidate shall manage technologies and processes to maximize and improve the performance of data storage resources throughout the organization and shall use storage management technologies, such as replication, mirroring and security, to help a data center improve its reliability and availability. The candidate shall also configure storage in conjunction with the Records and Information Management (RIM) Division in accordance with laws, regulations, DoD policies, and IG Instructions.

Minimum Required Skills:
  • Experience utilizing VMWare and virtual environments
  • Experience performing backup and restoration of services
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting of Windows or Linux operating systems
  • Experience identifying and resolving network related problems impacting Windows and Linux Servers
  • Experience performing and enabling controls to ensure the virtual infrastructure security posture is in compliance with DISA STIGs and DoD OIG regulations
  • Experience setting up and monitoring performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • Advise and participate in Enterprise Working Groups (EWGs)
  • Encryption software market research, demo assessment, selection and implementation
  • Evaluate current server performance and resource utilization analysis and server right sizing
  • Experience assisting with virtualization, storage, and backup strategy, implementation, and CONOPS
  • Experience assisting with Network/Network Security Design and Implementation
  • Experience assisting with MES COOP/DR requirements, technical strategy, and implementation

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Veritas NetBackup
  • Experience with CTERA
  • Assist with DISA Out-of-Band (OOB) access and monitoring: Jumpbox/VDI/admin and monitoring tools, data feeds)
  • Assist with technical coordination between projects (i.e. Exchange 2016 upgrade, SQL 2008 upgrade, etc.)
  • Perform gap analysis and refine storage requirements
  • Experience maintaining and creating new SOPs in support of this objective
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • In-depth troubleshooting of backup and restore failures on both Windows and Linux servers with varied configurations, such as MySQL clusters, Exchange
  • Install and configure backup agents according to specific settings for security and streamlined data flow
  • Maintain the NetBackup infrastructure, perform restores and remediated failures.
  • Customer facing support to include performance monitoring and implementing best practice for backing up servers and disaster recovery.
  • Perform data restorations for file system and databases while maintaining consistent communication with the customer
  • Repair failures between the centralized backup system and the client servers
  • Experience with F5 Applications

Degree & Years of Experience:
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience

Certification Requirements: Security+ ce and/ or IAT Level II, and Computing Environment certificate (e.g. Comptia Storage+) can get a 6 month waiver for CE cert, if needed

Travel Requirement: 0% - 10% (will need to be onsite and will be requested to be in the office on an as needed basis, at minimum)
