We are: At Accenture Federal Studio, research is an integral part of our design process. As a Design Research Lead, you will plan and implement research ranging from foundational (impacting immediate business decisions and product designs) to strategic (influencing long-term user experience vision and goals). You will build positive relationships with clients, lead research projects, identify relevant insights to help make business decisions, and identify product/user experience opportunities. You will stay up-to-date on UX industry trends, incorporating new research techniques when appropriate and, train junior researchers on UX methodologies, as applicable. The Design Research Lead is part of the Studio’s Service and Interaction Design Craft.As a team, we:
  • Work cross-functionally with product owners, designers, content producers and leadership to help identify significant user insights, gaps, conduct Research, and generate insights to craft user experience strategy for launches, incremental improvements, and innovation.
As a Design Researcher, you:
  • Have industry experience in a Research role with a strong record of business impact
  • Have expertise in a wide variety of Research modalities and methods (e.g., generative and evaluative, participatory design, card sorting, journey mapping, un-moderated)
  • Have proven moderation and engagement skills (e.g., 1:1 interviews, usability studies, focus groups, contextual inquiries, expert reviews, co-creation)
  • Develop significant actionable user insights and communicate them clearly and persuasively across different audiences
  • Leverage analytics and other insights to better understand customer needs
  • Provide strategic direction to major research projects and liaise with key clients
  • Lead and inspire large research teams, potentially on multiple projects
  • Experience of tight-knit collaboration with designers, product managers, and other business functions to plan, lead, and implement high impact user studies
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Collaborate with data scientists and market researchers to build a complete understanding of customers’ behaviors and needs
  • Continually learn, grow, and improve the craft of Research
  • Develop research standards and mentor staff
Working together, we will:
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience based on research insights
  • Build a Research repository that delivers efficiency for clients
Set yourself apart:
  • Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office, Dscout, Optimal Workshop, InVision, Axure, Confluence, or JIRA is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Research modalities and methods (e.g., generative and evaluative, participatory design, card sorting, journey mapping, un-moderated).
  • Advanced understanding of integrating qualitative and quantitative research methods to improve research outcomes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners in various situations and contexts.
  • Proven history of delivering results on time and within budget.
  • History of tackling and solving complex interactive challenges.
Here’s what you need:
  • 10+ years of experience moderating and applying various Research methodologies
  • 4-5 years of experience leading Research workstreams
  • Proven moderation and engagement skills (e.g., 1:1 interviews, usability studies, focus groups, contextual inquiries, expert reviews, co-creation)
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates your ability to develop and execute research studies
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills to concisely communicate complex subject matter verbally and written
  • Ability to lead and train junior Researchers
  • Bachelor’s or MS in a human behavior related field

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $119,000 - $166,699 and information on benefits offered is here.
