Locations: Arlington (Rosslyn), VA (onsite from time to time and remote)

Estimated Contract Duration: Base year + 6 (1 - year options)

Education: BS degree in technical and 5-7 years' experience or MS degree in technical field and 3-5 years' experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years' experience.

Knowledge Management, Inc. (KMI) is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.

The Network Engineer will be a member of the CA/CST CAEIO Engineering Team, responsible for working closely with other CAEIO team members, application/system owners, and Government Leadership to ensure Consular Affairs mission success.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
  • Support life-cycle engineering (design, development, testing, integration, maintenance) for network technology stacks including F5 and Broadcom Layer 7 devices in support of a diverse set of web applications in the DOS/CA environment.
  • Provide escalation engineering/Tier III support of Department of State modernized applications on current and future network stacks and technologies.
  • Work closely with senior network and systems engineers to build and maintain enterprise capabilities in support of Consular Affairs applications and services.
  • The candidate will be a part of a team that performs engineering and operational duties to include installing, configuring, and supporting network appliances and ensuring network availability, capacity, and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a

    SECRET or

    TOP-SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • BS degree in technical and 5-7 years' experience or MS degree in technical field and 3-5 years' experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years' experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant networking experience.
  • Must have hands-on Linux and CLI experience (Power user/Admin experience required).
  • Must have hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, deploying network capabilities in support of hosts (client/server), network devices/appliances, and applications.
  • Willingness to learn quickly in a high tempo environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • F5 GTM/LTM and Broadcom Layer 7/API Gateway experience.
  • Industry relevant certifications in Networking or Security.
  • Experience with Department of State.
