Assist with the drafting, writing, and management of corporate trade policy and procedures by ensuring all command media conforms to U.S. trade regulations as outlined by the Department of Commerce [Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)/Export Administration Regulations (EAR)], Department of State [Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC)/International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)], Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Department of the Treasury [Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)], and any other exporting regulatory agency as required

Primary interface with external auditor in support of the Consent Agreement. Will ensure that corporate and segment businesses are providing timely support to external auditor requests, including fulfilling assigned corrective actions

Provide support to assist with fulfilling the requirements of the Consent Agreement

Review voluntary self-disclosures, ensure internal investigations are properly scoped and work with Compliance directorate to ensure lessons learned are shared

Interface with Outside Counsel, internal and external customers in trade compliance matters

Coordinate with the Compliance Directorate to monitor trade compliance through self-assessments, compliance assistance visits (CAVs), and audits

Ensure that corrective actions (i.e. trade embargoes, economic sanctions, etc.) related to voluntary disclosures, CAVs, self-assessments, audits, etc. are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound and are consistent with Consent Agreement objectives

Provide advice on jurisdiction and classification matters

Assist with investigations and other compliance matters, as required

Provide advice and guidance to senior leaders on the complex application and implementation of U.S. government trade regulations

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Ability to travel as necessary

Qualifications:

J.D. degree from accredited U.S. law school and 10 years of work experience

Admission to a U.S. jurisdiction bar and member in good standing (D.C. preferred)

Minimum 5 years international trade experience as an attorney in law firm setting, including import regulations and customs law, export control law and regulation under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR"), and/or economic sanctions law, or equivalent practical work experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint

Ability to obtain security clearance

Proficiency in OCR EASE export administration and licensing software

Experience working under a consent agreement

Experience conducting jurisdiction and classification reviews

Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Experience working for a USG Agency managing a Trade activity (State, DoD, Commerce, CBP)
