This position is located in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (OCPO). Responsibilities The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the Supervisory Government Information Specialist. The mission of the CISA Office of the Chief Privacy Officer is to help CISA achieve its homeland security and protective mission while minimizing the impact on the individual's privacy, particularly the individual's personal information. Typical work assignments include:
  • Planning work to be completed by subordinates, setting and adjusting short- term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
  • Serving as a technical authority on privacy laws, policies, safeguards, business processes, and initiatives, and represent CISA on a wide variety of privacy issues.
  • Overseeing all privacy functions to ensure that CISA accomplishes their mission.
  • Setting a series of annual, multi-year and long-range work plans and schedules to develop and implement policies, procedures and directives and serve as back-up primary point of contact.
  • Monitoring compliance with all applicable Federal privacy laws and regulations, implementing corrective, remedial, and preventive actions whenever necessary.

Qualifications You may qualify for the GS-15 grade level, if you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level performing the following duties:
  • Designing and implementing privacy programs to provide compliance, oversight, policy, advice, incident response and reporting, outreach, and training products and services to agencies and program stakeholders;
  • Determining program compliance and identifying shortcomings;
  • Analyzing and assessing privacy programs, their effectiveness and compliance with regulatory guidance and provide recommendations for program corrections or improvements;
  • Leading or participating as a team member with representatives from across the organization to study and address privacy principles and programs and make recommendations for aligning privacy and security objectives and improving program operations; and
  • Assigning and evaluating work to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

    Promotion Potential: This position is at the full performance level. This is a supervisory position. Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a one-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
