Job Title: Software Developer - Java Location: Arlington, VAEmployee Status: Full-TimeTravel: Start Date: Immediately

Job Summary:We are looking for a talented, self-motivated candidate who is proficient in Java based application development and has experience and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will work as a member of a cross-functional Agile delivery team within a larger inter-dependent enterprise platform project. Qualified applicants must be detail-oriented, result-driven individuals who work well within team environments and have good interpersonal skills.

We are seeking candidates with a willingness to learn all aspects of modern application development to be a full stack developer. Our goal is to create well-rounded developers who may have strong expertise in and be leveraged primarily for either front end or back end development, but with the capability to support all development efforts.

Main technologies used on the project include JavaScript, Angular, Java, Spring, SQL Server, Hibernate, and Git/BitBucket.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely within a cross-functional Agile delivery team to understand requirements, create development story design documents, and implement stories
  • Participate in peer code reviews
  • Develop and update technical design documents
  • Develop RESTful services and APIs
  • Troubleshoot issues and problem solve as necessary
  • Become familiar with front coding and implementation
  • Keep current with industry trends and developments
Qualifications

Requirements and Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in developing Java-based applications using Spring or equivalent frameworks
  • Experience working within an agile development team
  • Experience participating in peer code reviews
  • Experience with SQL and data structure design
  • Experience with API design and development
  • Ability to contribute clean, readable, maintainable Java code to a repository shared by many developers
  • Fluency in a versioning system, preferably git
  • Some familiarity with database technologies, preferably relational
  • Working knowledge of styling the user interface using XHTML/HTML5/CSS content and JavaScript
  • A cursory understanding of how the Internet works, including: HTTP protocol, DNS, SSL, Web servers
  • The strong written communication skills required to create detailed technical design documents
  • The attention to detail required to make contributions to peer code reviews
  • The awareness required to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams
  • The high aptitude and willingness required to master new technologies
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Eligible for U.S. Government Clearance

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required from college or University

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience working with a Microservices solution development and delivery
  • Prior experience in a consulting firm or agency
  • Experience with enterprise search platforms such as SOLR
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Cloud computing
  • Experience with BPM workflow solutions
  • Experience with document management solutions
