Riverside Research is seeking a Space Object and Debris Data Scientist to support our Commercial Innovation Center (CIC). The CIC is a research and development environment designed to bring commercial data providers together with government, academic, and other commercial research and development teams for the purpose of increasing innovation, collaboration, and adoption across the rapidly growing remote sensing market. The Remote Sensing Data Scientist will assist in the development and oversight of core algorithms, software, and application solutions.

This position has up to 90% telework capability All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide data analysis on measurement data in direct support for orbital debris/objects engineering models
  • Participate in experiments meant to improve computer models of the space debris/objects environment, including numerical simulation, and model/tool development and optimization
  • Solve problems in applied physics and engineering, including basic research and algorithm development to support IARPA and NOAA Space Traffic management.
  • Develop, document, maintain and operate computer models and databases of the orbital debris/objects environment
  • Present work products to customers and counterparts (written & verbal)
  • Support and participate in technical interchange meetings
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be clearable (able to obtain and maintain a clearance up to the TS/SCI CI Poly level)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics)
  • 5+ years in project management with software related projects
  • Recent experience with Agile project management methodologies, Scrum framework, and a thorough understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Government and/or IC contract program management techniques and methods
  • Experience managing complex projects, short deadlines, and competing priorities with distributed teams
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently and as a team player
