Customer Success Engineer - Field Services

The Customer Success Engineer (CSE) is primarily responsible for working at clients' facilities to perform preventive maintenance and resolve issues that require onsite technical support. The CSE will own and manage 10 to 20 clients. Visits to each client site are performed on a routine schedule. Client visits are either half-day or full-day and range in frequency from daily, weekly or monthly. The CSE, when not in the field, will serve as surge support for the Red River Service Desk and also assist with remote project work at client locations. The engineer is required to work independently and be able to prioritize the workload. The ideal candidate will possess a dynamic personality and superior customer service skills.This role will report to the CSE Field Services Team Leader.

Primary Position Tasks:
  • Responsible for onsite client support of (mostly) Windows-based servers, desktop & mobile computers, mobile devices, local and network printers, and peripheral devices. Some Mac support will be required.
  • Checking and acting on server event logs, disk space, anti-virus updates.
  • Monitor and resolve workstations issues: software installation AV status, updates.
  • Monitoring of various storage repositories; Net App, Nimble, etc.
  • Monitoring and working w/ cloud technologies; Azure, AWS, etc.
  • Monitoring and testing of data backups.
  • Ensure client connectivity to communication devices: routers, switches, firewalls
  • Oversee and be the technical resource for third party vendors when required
  • Monitor, configure, modify, and document other network related items; Office 365, Share Point, UPS systems, public domain, external connectivity, smart phones, VOIP phones, analog devices, etc.
  • Documentation of system and network devices, vendors, circuits, etc.
  • Occasionally required to mount servers, network gear or UPS systems into LAN racks.
  • Other business duties as assigned.

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
  • BS/ Information Systems
  • CCNA, CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, MS workstation/server
  • Azure, AWS
  • Mac workstations
  • Office 365, MS Exchange.
  • 1 year of IT service; Server, Workstation, Networking, Network Security etc.
  • Familiar w/ MS Visio

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience w/ local and network printers.
  • Basic concepts of email systems.
  • Basic concepts of various backup systems
  • Vendor operating systems.
  • Printer, scanner, copier setup and troubleshooting.
  • IOS and Android Smart phone technology.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and networking including the OSI network stack and cabling, wireless networking.
  • Basic understanding of DNS, DHCP.
  • Basic understanding of virtualization, HyperV or VMware.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based systems: AWS and/or Azure.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory, Share Point, MS Exchange, MS Office 365, MS 365 portal.
  • Basic understanding of network security; anti-virus, spam, phishing, etc.
  • Must have strong communications skills and possess the ability to provide complete and accurate documentation.

Essential Elements:

May be required to help with equipment install. Lifting of up to 70 # may be required

This position is a hybrid of a traveling and office position that sometimes requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.

This position requires travel throughout the local area (DC, MD, VA) and extended regions as needed . Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license is required, and tolls and parking are reimbursed. Mileage over and above the standard commute is reimbursed at the standard rate as provided by government standards.

Red River will issue a company owned laptop to use during the workday for client and RR issues.

Smart phones are not issued but Red River provides a monthly stipend for the use of your personal phone.Security applications will be required to be installed on the laptop and the phone (2FA).

This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers and clients throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.

Special Requirements:Travel requirement varies. The typical travel for a day is 2 client sites per day, w/ an occasional full day at a client site. Some dispatches for installs, pickups may require several (short duration) site visits per day.
