Note: The role offers a flexible work schedule, where we generally ask our team to be available for team meetings during core business hours, e.g., 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Orbit Analyst in on a program that is responsible for assessing current and future SDA missions through modeling, simulation ( (M&S ) and analysis in order to provide recommendations to the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community (IC) to improve SDA performance. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Orbit event processing, maneuver determination, maneuver solving, and conjunction analysis
- Modeling counterspace weapons systems, such as kinetic, electronic warfare, and directed energy attacks
- Model space conflict scenarios for system evaluation and mission effectiveness
- Work in a collaborative team environment seeking to improve SDA performance through novel algorithms and advanced processing techniques.
- Consistently and pro-actively works with team members to solve complex problems
- Fusing sensor data to perform observation association, orbit determination and orbit state propagation
- Use scripting or programming to automate data processing and modeling
- Collect, organize, analyze data, and summarize findings
- Develop simulation software as required to complete analytic studies
- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
- Active Top Secret/SCI w/Poly
- Experienced with orbit determination methods such as batch and sequential estimation filters
- Experience with some orbit modeling tools such as STK or Free-Flyer
- Understanding of space object tracking sensors, networks and data, including capabilities and limitations
- Knowledge or familiarity with orbit mechanics and Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) concepts
- Experience with using a programming or scripting language
