Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division. The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

We are hiring a Communications Engineer to become an integral part of the Communications and Signal Analysis Department (CSAD) within Aerospace Corporation. CSAD performs analysis, modeling and simulation of end-to-end radio and optical communication systems, and signal collection/processing techniques and solutions. We also advise our customers on technical matters and advanced technology development needs. The work we do is in support of advanced concept development/prototyping, system acquisition support and anomaly resolution, primarily for specialized satellite and associated ground processing applications.

This position will be supporting 100% onsite in Chantilly, VA.

This position can either be filled as an Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist depending on experience.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting the development and acquisition of advanced communications and signal collection / processing systems
  • Leading and performing technical studies and performing analysis, modeling and simulation of advanced communications, signal collection / processing and/or signal geolocation applications
  • Supporting our Civil, DoD and intelligence community customers with primary support to the National Reconnaissance Office
  • Initiating studies, coordinating tasking, leading teams and interfacing with multiple stakeholders
  • Acting as the organizations designated representative at technical meetings, presentations and symposia

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements (Engineering Specialist):
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 8-years of experience of engineering responsibility in communications and signal processing, such as modeling and simulation; some knowledge of hardware, hardware imperfections and modeling required
  • Willing to travel domestically up to approximately 10% of the time
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government.

Minimum Requirements for consideration as a Senior Engineering Specialist:
  • Minimum of 12-years of experience of increasing engineering responsibility in communications and signal processing

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience with our customers and knowledge of National Technical Means
  • Experience in Satellite Communications and SIGINT
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and team leadership skills
  • Experience using MATLAB, Python, C or additional tools, for modeling and simulation
  • Current and active Top Secret / SCI clearance with counterintelligence polygraph
