The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The Office of the Chief Architect (OCA) is a component of the System Engineering Directorate of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO). OCA provides enterprise-level architecting support to the systems engineering and acquisition programmatic functions of the NRO. Activities span from the assessments of enterprise gaps and needs to the generation and refinement of enterprise and major system requirements to include architectural support to key enterprise decisions and life-cycle oversight events. We are looking for a Senior Project Leader at the interface of broad space, operations, and acquisition experience to provide leadership, planning, and participation in the exploration and refinement of wide-ranging architectural opportunities on behalf of the OCA.

This position is 100% on site work in our customer's location in Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing Aerospace on-site, direct support to the OCA within the Systems Engineering Directorate of the NRO
  • Leveraging your experience and technical background, providing independent counsel, consultation, and recommendation in support of planning and day-to-day execution as a trusted process and functional advisor to our OCA government customer
  • Providing fully engaged support from activity planning and execution through review and lessons learned focused on sustained customer success
  • Engaging with government leadership to identify opportunities and potential alignment for Aerospace study, analysis, assessment, investigation, or plain technical support that addresses customer needs
  • Developing plans and working to establish and manage Aerospace teams with appropriate expertise, experience, and tools to address our customer's problems
  • Delivering the product of Aerospace analytic and technical support responsive to the customer's needs particularly with regard to time, content and clarity
  • Communicating effectively and appropriately to share information and enable the advantage from the Aerospace footprint spread across the broader National Security Space (NSS) Enterprise
  • Continuing your personal learning and education to maintain awareness of technical and operational activities and advancements relative to efforts across the NSS community

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology, mathematics or related technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of aligned professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility to include multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Familiarity with the NRO customer and the IC and DoD mission partners
  • Excellent oral and written communication with an ability to provide clear and concise summaries and presentation of complex technical content
  • Exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness and initiative with a success driven approach to tackle dynamic and often ill-defined problems
  • Experience in project leadership with a proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers, contractors and corporate staff
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, technology, mathematics or related technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Broad experience with space capabilities including spacecraft, ground, launch, operations, technology and users
  • Background and experience with intelligence functions, analytic products and the NRO architecture
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense, Civil, commercial and foreign space capabilities
  • Familiarity with relevant Aerospace technical and analytic capabilities
  • Familiarity with the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group or experience tasking and managing an engineering matrix
