The National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The mission of the Advanced Systems Department (ASD) within the Advanced Technology Division is to study, develop, and demonstrate the next generation of space and ground systems critical to national security. ASD brings the full suite of Aerospace's strategic, technical, and laboratory capabilities to directly support the National Security Space (NSS) customer.

This position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VA

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as the lead technical advisor to senior government leadership for new space and ground systems research, development, acquisition, and operations.
  • Scope, direct, and execute Aerospace analysis, R&D, programmatic, and engineering support within the government R&D organization using core staff and matrixed engineering capabilities across a broad range of technical disciplines. Establish organization's objectives and goals and communicate them to subordinates, management, and interfacing matrix organizations. Conduct organization's activities consistent with corporate policies/practices, goals, and objectives.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation. Implement policies, practices, and operating processes and recommends improvements to management. Report organization's activities, progress and achievements through written and oral reports to management, subordinates, and customers.
  • Cooperate and communicate frequently with SETA, mid-level and senior government officials to coordinate and report progress, issues, and results.
  • Personnel management of Aerospace staff to include recruiting, training, and professional development.

What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering related technical discipline
  • Twelve (12) or more years of related engineering experience
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Experience with military or intelligence space systems development, engineering, and acquisition
    • Experience with ground system architecting, agile software development and management methodologies, and engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience leading high-performing teams of engineering professionals
  • Occasional travel required within the US (approx 10%)
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
