The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the National Reconnaissance Office and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The GEOINT Futures Office (GFO) Space Vehicle (SV) Department supports the design, development, integration, and test of a complex National Intelligence electro-optical space vehicle. In this position you will lead a team of approximately twenty equivalent staff including six to eight direct reports.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading overall Aerospace support to the development of a major National Intelligence space vehicle providing a novel mission capability.
  • Developing strong relationships with leadership and engineers at prime contractor & subcontractors, national labs, and across the NRO enterprise.
  • Maintaining and further developing a strong space vehicle department team working on-site in Chantilly, VA and at other Aerospace locations to maximize mission effectiveness.
  • Guiding your team in forming coordinated assessments and recommendations
  • Providing government and Aerospace leadership with key recommendations and status
  • Participating in program working groups, integrated program teams, and anomaly resolution efforts

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • At least 12 years' experience in the development and acquisition of complex space systems
  • Experience building, leading, and participating in diverse teams
  • Experience in the resolution of complex anomalies
  • Experience leveraging matrix support to address technical and programmatic issues
  • Ability to travel approximately one week a month
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Experience in NRO electro-optical systems acquisition and development
  • Experience in the initialization and checkout of complex space systems
  • Broad technology development experience, especially in cost-/schedule-constrained, capabilities-based programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Activity Based Intelligence concepts
  • Experience integrating complex enterprise solutions to national needs
