Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Scrum Master who has a background of working closely with other members of a technical development team and interfacing directly with Sponsors and third-party systems integrators. The Scrum Master should be familiar with software development life cycle processes and the Agile program management methodology. This position will be located in Chantilly, VA with periodic local travel required between Sponsor and corporate facilities. Responsibilities in this position:

  • Leading the implementation of Agile software development methodology across multiple software release trains and portfolio of products in a dynamic, fast-paced environment learning new tools and processes
  • Support and enforce the Agile methodology and SAFe framework used by the project teams
  • Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand up meetings, mid-point reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning
  • Develop and standardize Agile reporting metrics and processes to communicate team progress to Sponsor stakeholders
  • Ensure the Scrum Framework is implemented effectively and provides coaching and training at the team level to maximize its benefits
  • Assist with product backlog maintenance
  • Accept and validate scope across agile planning increments and work with product leads to ensure resources are appropriately aligned.
  • Develop, maintain and execute baseline plans and agile procedures for software systems
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings, decision-making and technical discussion
  • Review user stories, backlog items, accuracy of requirements and provide feedback
  • Timely identification of issues and effectively communicate impact to software developers, project managers, and appropriate parties to facilitate issue resolutions
  • Clearly identify and document external dependencies, collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize resource allocation
  • Articulate open issues and risks in a timely manner to management and make recommendations
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of customer's lifecycles, standards, and supporting processes and practices.

Qualifications:

What qualifications you'll need to have:
  • An active Top Secret clearance or higher is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI and Polygraph clearance is required.
  • Level 2: Bachelors in Science and 2 years of experience. Or, Masters with 0 years of experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 3: Bachelors in Science and 5 years of experience. Or, Masters with 3 years of experience, or 0 years with PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with customer-facing Agile leadership
  • Experience with product release plans and cross-team technical dependencies
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and self-manage multiple project tasks
  • Proficiency with productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience with agile management software tools (Jira, Team Foundation Server, Rally)
  • Ability to work across classification levels communicating mission requirements to ensure technical solutions are in alignment with Sponsor expectations and intent
  • Ability to report and manage against CDRL delivery timelines
Our preferred qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with integrated product teams
  • Experience with multiple Agile teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Self-starter with the ability to pick up and learn new products with little supervision, as well as provide leadership on assigned projects
  • Ability to provide Agile best practices and direction to other team members
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) training and certification
  • Scrum Master training and certification
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Scrum Master on a Scrum team as well as experience teaching others how to be agile
