The Helpdesk Support Technician I provides Helpdesk support services for faculty, staff and students resolving first tier desktop software, hardware, mobile devices and communications issues. The incumbent responds to requests for technical assistance in a timely and efficient manner and assists with 2nd and 3rd tier service requests by evaluating and then routing the requests to the appropriate ETO Technician. The technician also maintains their knowledge of emerging technologies and applicable policies and procedures.

Incumbent works independently and sets priorities as assigned and/or as dictated by the needs of the ETO unit. These include setting priorities for and the completion of day-to-day tasks; initiating interaction and contact with other School of Education and Human Development units, faculty and staff in providing assistance with troubleshooting hardware and software. The Incumbent seeks the guidance of their supervisor when precedent setting issues arise or when decisions which fall outside of their regular scope of duties are required.

Minimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Experience: Less than one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Licensure: None

Physical DemandsThis is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
