Windows Server Engineer Intermediate (On-Site)

Performs advanced implementation/support for systems application and monitoring. Responsible for installing configuring and maintaining operating system workstations and servers including web servers in support of business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of server to ensure compliance with established standards policies and configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Provides integrated team support and maintenance of Technical Services hardware and software. Provides design and implementation support for server hardware Microsoft Windows operating systems virtualization Active Directory Group Policy TCP/IP/DHCP/DNS IIS SQL Exchange Clustering Load Balancing SAN/NAS and advanced support. Provides assigned on call support during nightly on call rotation and upon escalation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field required
  • Experience: 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • The ability to work on-site in Charlottesville, VA - potential for relocation assistance for the right applicant.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with installing, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows Server environment including server hardware (HPE ProLiant, Synergy) and software (Windows Server 2019/2016/2012R2).
  • Experience administering Windows server infrastructure including virtualization (Hyper-V), disk storage, HPE OneView, IIS, SQL, MDT, PowerShell, SharePoint, Active Directory, Clustering, DNS, DHCP, File and Print services, and Group Policies.
  • Experience maintaining OS, network, and hardware-related security to include antivirus, firewall rules, least privilege NTFS/share permissions, and installation of security updates for the operating system and associated hardware.
  • Experience managing system performance and reliability through proactive monitoring to predict, troubleshoot, identify, and address performance and stability-related issues with the operating system and associated hardware.
  • Proactive in creating and maintaining server and infrastructure documentation including detailed information of server and network configurations, application installations, and problems/resolution for future reference.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to easily convey concepts and provide customer service to peers, managers, and customers.
  • Excellent dependability and work ethic in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.Position Compensation Range: $32.48 - $51.98 Hourly
