The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging is seeking a fulltime Positron Emission Tomography/Computerized Tomography (PET/CT) Operations Manager. The PET/CT Operations Manager provides oversight for PET/CT activities that pertain to clinical trial research participants and preclinical/translational studies utilizing the Radiology Medical Imaging Core facility. This oversight includes management of the PET/CT facility, ensuring equipment receives proper maintenance, compliance with institutional policies and procedures related to research, as well as compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations related to the utilization of radiopharmaceuticals.
The PET/CT Operations Manager serves as a key member of the research team focused on high impact imaging-based research. This research group focuses on the design and implementation of the next generational tools for medical imaging to improve the quality of patient care.The incumbent operates PET/CT equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes according to research parameters established by the principal investigator. In addition, the PET/CT Operations Manager is responsible for performing routine to the most complex diagnostic and technical procedures under the direction of a radiologist researcher. Expertise in MRI and/or willingness to undergo training to develop proficiency in performing MRI examinations is preferred.The PET/CT Operations Manager performs technical activities in compliance with the Environmental Health and Safety Office of the University and state regulations. The incumbent monitors the quality and accuracy of PET/CT images to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies for clinical trial research patients. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures involved in the operation of radiology equipment.
- Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient to perform imaging as prescribed.
- Knowledge of procedures employed with radiation hazards, materials, safety data sheets and their application.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with patients, physicians, technologists, support personnel, and other staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people in a wide variety of professional levels.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems and to work accurately with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage large volumes of information while having the ability to be flexible and adjust to changing situations.
- Ability to provide support and training to technologists and other staff.
