Senior/Specialist Wireless Network Engineer

UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applications for a Senior/Specialist Wireless Network Engineer to support the Enterprise Infrastructure team. This position is responsible for the wireless network on the UVA Academic side including 7000 WAPs, controllers and related routing domains. The Wireless Network Engineer is required to design large scale upgrades, to implement and employ performance management tools and work with the rest of the wireless team for operations support. The selected candidate will be required to participate in an on-call support rotation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience with Wireless Network Architecture and Design OR Equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications
  • Knowledge of WLAN technologies including 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax standards and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of 802.1x authentication and security
  • Experience with high-density WiFi solutions
  • Experience deploying and managing Aruba mobility controllers and wireless access points
  • Experience with Clearpass RADIUS infrastructure
  • Experience with wireless troubleshooting and site-survey tools
  • Demonstrated experience in Network operations best practices: Reliability, change control, Root cause analysis, CMDB, documentation (ITILv4 practices)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Anticipated hiring range: $100,000 - $120,000
