ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Bridge Line is a nonprofit organization enriching the lives of adults with brain injuries by fostering independence through individualized day and residential services. The organization was formed in January 2015 when two nonprofit organizations, Building Bridges Charlottesville (est. 1991) and Virginia Neurocare Foundation (est. 2000), merged. Our community welcomes persons with brain injuries and supports them in reaching their full potential. Despite moments of struggle, life at The Bridge Line is filled with hope, tenacity, optimism, and joy. The scale of dreams may have changed for our residents but not the wonderful feeling when achieving them.

Poised to continue expansion, the Bridge Line is looking for a new team member for our communications and fundraising efforts. The Organizational Advancement Manager is critical to our success and will oversee a growing communications and fundraising program to help us meet our revenue and program goals.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bridge Line is seeking a new team member with an outgoing disposition to be the Organizational Advancement Manager and to help us increase our services by growing our revenue stream and our visibility in the Charlottesville community. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a seasoned team to bring the organization to the next level”supporting more people adjusting to a new normal, helping them achieve integration in Charlottesville, and in the process gain personal fulfillment.

The ideal candidate for the position of Organizational Advancement Manager will have excellent writing skills, fundraising experience, and a willingness to work flexible hours, with some evenings and weekends required. The position will also require someone who is social media savvy and has advanced computer skills. We are looking for an ambitious, hard-working, results oriented professional expand our fundraising and outreach efforts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Organizational Advancement Manager will be expected to:

o Work closely with the Executive Director and organizational staff to establish fundraising goals, set strategic priorities, and develop and meet the annual budget.

o Write and/or assist in writing grant proposals, which make up a significant portion of the overall revenue stream for the Bridge Line.

o Work closely with the Board of Directors to engage them more deeply in the fundraising process and help cultivate strong relationships between board members and the organization.

o Solicit contributions from individual donors.

o Oversee special events to raise funds for the organization and increase its visibility in the Charlottesville community.

o Supervise volunteers in the various aspects of fundraising and outreach.

o Solicit corporate sponsors for events and special projects.

o Advertise events utilizing television, radio, print, and online outlets.

o Maintain a robust database with contacts and donors. Utilize the database to engage current and prospective donors and other supporters of the Bridge Line.

o Write press releases and public service announcements.

o Manage the organizations online and social media presence: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the website.

o Represent the Bridge Line at community networking events. Identify new ways to engage the community in our work.

o Develop relationships with prospective individual and foundation donors to increase funding and visibility for the Bridge Line.

o Oversee the implementation of ongoing programs to improve the renewal rates of existing annual donors, creatively use events to upgrade donors, and increase the pool of donors.

o Regularly update the Executive Director and the Board of Directors regarding income projections, outreach initiatives, and opportunities to be more engaged to grow the organization.

o Stay abreast of philanthropic and communications trends. This can include attending workshops at the Center for Nonprofit Excellence or other educational institutions, as well as subscribing to online newsletters”all supported by the Bridge Line.

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should have the following experience and qualifications:

o Bachelors degree plus 3+ years fundraising experience. Candidates with comparable experience will also be considered.

o Well-developed writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

o Commitment to helping people with brain injuries.

o Demonstrated ability to work effectively with, and quickly gain the respect and support of, various constituencies.

o Strong computer skills, as well as an understanding and capability for managing social media accounts for maximum engagement.

o Experience as an articulate and persuasive communicator in both the spoken and written word.
