The University of Virginias Research & Clinical Trials Analytics Team seeks a talented analyst to build/support Cancer Clinical Trials Electronic Data Capture projects and to help effectively fulfill Cancer-related data requests from UVA Researchers. This role will support UVAs research portfolio with accurate data solutions in an exciting rapid growth season.

The Application Systems Analyst/Programmer 2 will solicit and analyze requirements, plan, and create Electronic Data Capture projects and data extracts to support Cancer Clinical Trials within the UVA Cancer Center. The successful candidate will have the ability to elicit and adapt to changing requirements; learn new tools and data quickly as necessary; employ effective communication in reaching a common understanding of the request and consensus on the solution; and have exceptional teamwork skills overall.

  • Interacting with UVA Researchers and teammates to efficiently define project requirements and build/test/deliver effective solutions, including data extracts and electronic data capture projects
  • Establish and maintain change management best practices in order to support the local Electronic Data Capture environment
  • Navigating SQL databases (i.e. SQL Server, MySQL, Maria DB, or Oracle) and writing efficient SQL to extract appropriate data from a variety of UVA databases into output files that meet researcher requirements
  • Rapidly learning internal UVA cancer data and processes/environment, UVA EPIC EHR (Electronic Health Record) data, and other data sources
  • Developing, maintaining and collaborating with other teammates on a common code set repository
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned
Position Compensation Range: -

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related disciplineExperience: At least one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Licensure: None

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience building Electronic Data Capture projects in REDCap, Advarra EDC or Qualtrics

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

COVID Vaccination Requirement

The University of Virginia expects all current and new employees (UVA Health System and Academic), to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
