The IT Analyst Intermediate, Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for using the enterprises data to design, create, and maintain BI reports and tools in support of clinical, business, and research operations at UVA Health. Learns to perform data analysis utilizing appropriate analytics methodologies. Learns to foster data-driven decision-making by providing valuable consultative analytics support to executives and service area leadership, in accordance with regulatory standards as appropriate. This individual should have excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills along with highly effective written /verbal communication and interpersonal skills contributing to the BI teams mission.

  • Participate in cross-functional performance improvement team efforts, ensuring appropriate analysis of data, data accuracy, and data availability.
  • Consult with all levels of staff to help solve problems, as well as contribute to highly-visible organizational projects through the analysis and presentation of data.
  • Collaborate with operational subject matter experts and stakeholders, serving as a supportive team member for outcomes-related metrics; ensuring accurate metadata, target/threshold acquisition, appropriate metric and report development, data validation, maintenance, and modification.
  • Participate in the collection of business requirements from appropriate stakeholders, design, code, validate, deploy, and maintain the semantic layer and metadata for complex reports and reporting tools, creating efficient and appropriately distributed solutions.
  • Learn to utilize tools such as Microsoft SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SAP Crystal Reports, Epic Reporting Workbench, Extract Framework, SlicerDicer, and Radar Dashboards, as well as Tableau, to build BI intelligence solutions.
  • Able to learn to develop code with structured query language (SQL), preferably Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Able to learn to employ tools such as Microsoft Excel, R, and Minitab to perform analysis of data.
  • Able to learn to design data collection tools based on parameters appropriate for the situation.
  • Able to learn to perform system administration: build, test, and assist with upgrade/enhancement/patch-related implementation activities.
  • Adhere to specific team and departmental quality standards and development best practices.
  • Appropriately monitor the team work queue and triage requests (ensuring coverage if-needed).
  • Participate in governance and Change Control-related activities (ensuring coverage if-needed).Adapt to competing demands, shifting priorities, and organizational constraints.
  • Works with limited autonomy under general supervision, requiring some instruction and guidance.
  • Must be able to document and follow change control procedures.
  • Attains and maintains necessary certifications, as applicable, in a timely manner according to policy.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties as assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $70,512.00 - $112,798.40 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent.Experience: 4 years of relevant experience. Education can be substituted in lieu of experience as follows:

Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.

General understanding of relational databases. Intermediate experience with organizing and analyzing large datasets. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Able to learn new software and skills as required for the position.

Licensure: None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

COVID Vaccination Requirement

The University of Virginia expects all current and new employees (UVA Health System and Academic), to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

If hired to work within the University Health System, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to receive the vaccination. Employees may request a medical or religious exemption from vaccination.

If hired to work on the Academic side of the University, excluding the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, UPG, and the Health Systems Library, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to submit to mandatory, weekly prevalence testing. Employees that are working 100% remotely will not be subject to weekly prevalence testing; however, if the employee works on UVA Grounds (including the Medical Center) even intermittently, then they are required to be tested for COVID-19 once per week on an indefinite basis and follow masking mandates.
