Tech Specialist, Printing and Copying Services

The University of Virginia's Printing and Copying Services has an opportunity for a Tech Specialist who will perform general maintenance tasks and troubleshoot and repair computer systems and peripheral equipment located throughout the organization. The Tech Specialist will troubleshoot and resolve end-user problems and ensure correct operation of personal computers. The Tech Specialist addresses complex problems and uses experience and judgment in selecting among authorized procedures, seeking assistance when significant deviations are proposed, or when unprecedented problems arise. They assist senior staff in developing approaches to problem-solving and anticipating issues. They may train or provide guidance to less experienced staff members. Their interactions are with fellow team members and coordinating team members; assigned student, faculty, or staff clients; and external vendors or service providers.

Responsibilities include:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair printers, copiers, card readers, servers, etc. that are part of the Copy Division fleet.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and respond to customer request in a timely manner.
  • Responsibilities include equipment installs, cabling, modifying, minor repairs to computer hardware, loading and troubleshooting software.
  • Keep public areas clean and organized.
  • Provide basic instruction to patrons on the use of services and provide a high level of customer service.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

This may include having to work hours other than 8 am - 5 pm Monday

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: At least one year of experience

Licensure: Valid drivers license with positive points

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position does involve seated work and using a PC, walking between locations in some cases as well as lifting of products ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

COVID Vaccination Requirement
