Job Description

As the AnalyticalScientistin the Applied Chemistry and SpectroscopyLab, you will be responsible for performing analysis using a variety of wet chemistry and spectroscopy methods and instruments.

  • Perform assigned tasks using methods and instruments including but not limited to dilute solution viscometry, infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, sample preparation, titrations, extractions, separations, and density measurements:
  • Setup and calibrate instruments, prepare and run client samples.
  • Analyze the instrument data using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Report in writing the results of the tasks for the project managers to include in the project reports. This includes method details to express what was done, the observations, the results and applicable analysis.
  • Assist lab manager/lead/senior technician with maintenance and qualification of specified pieces of equipment.
  • Contribute to laboratory organization including maintaining inventories of supplies, cleaning glassware, and safely disposing of chemicals.
  • Assist with sample management.
  • Assist lab manager/lead/senior scientists with development, documentation, and validation of test methods and procedures.
  • Understand and meet the quality requirements required for the equipment, methods, and assigned tasks.
  • Promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and requirements.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or a related science.
  • Experience using standard computer programs including Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, presenting information in a logical and organized manner.
  • Exhibit ability to understand and work within a quality system to perform all work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain an organized work environment and uses/improves systems to benefit the company and other staff.
  • Possesses consistency, dependability and follows instructions by responding to management directions and solicits feedback to improve performance.
