IT Help Desk Analyst 2 employees provide consultative and technical support services to faculty, staff and students to ensure timely problem resolution, system/data access and optimal system performance. They provide support for desktop, mobile computing, and client/server technology. IT Help Desk Analyst 2 employees are distinguished from IT Help Desk Analyst 1 employees by their development and beginning application of their technical skills, additional variation in activities, longer-term assignments, and the latitude to apply skills to solve routine problems without review and devise approaches to performing assignments. They perform routine daily activities without supervision. They work on longer-term assignments under immediate supervision. They may train, serve as a resource, or provide guidance to IT Help Desk Analyst 1 employees on routine work, processes, and policies. They begin working with related teams and client groups and working toward specific team goals.

The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for two IT Support Technicians. These positions provide technical support to the College community by performing the following duties:

  • Desktop support of all faculty, staff, and computing lab computer across campus
  • Printer support for all printers across campus
  • Deployment of new equipment purchased for departments across campus
  • Ensuring timely resolution of new and existing problems for faculty and staff
  • Processing the Colleges ETF requests and ensuring paperwork is completed in a timely and proper manner
  • Tracking all calls in the departments call tracking system
  • Providing initial contact for all issues presented to the IT Department (via phone, email, or tracking system)
  • Distribute calls to the appropriate members of the IT Department for timely resolution
  • Monitoring the departments call tracking system to ensure timely resolution of calls within different units of the department
  • Management of the Colleges JAMF instance and providing support to the Colleges iPad initiative
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience includes at least one year of relevant IT Support experience, preferably in an educational or enterprise environment. Candidates must also have a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various computer, software, and printer issues in a large network environment, a demonstrated ability to provide customer support to multiple users, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

COVID Vaccination Requirement

The University of Virginia expects all current and new employees (UVA Health System and Academic), to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

If hired to work within the University Health System, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to receive the vaccination. Employees may request a medical or religious exemption from vaccination.
