Job Summary

As a member of the Civil Systems Group you will be part of an experienced team of scientists and engineers working together to advance the mission area of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) Research and Development (R&D). You will support our team on a casual basis working directly with related Aerospace team members and the NNSA/DNN R&D office helping them with strategic decisions and plans, regarding future needs of nuclear nonproliferation research, performance, risk, and new methods and processes for the effective transition of DNN R&D to potential stakeholders. The Areas of Research include proliferation detection and monitoring, verification, and assessment. Our work is a critical part of the U.S. government's nuclear nonproliferation efforts and has relatively high visibility across the community.

This is a hybrid position based in Crystal City, Virginia. The position will require at least one day of working on-site/week.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide consultation and recommendations to Aerospace leadership and team members on various topic related DNN R&D, The National Labs and end-user organizations
  • Planning, and support to executive enterprise and system level studies and analyses to support the decision-making process of the DNN R&D office
  • Define strategic and analytical approaches, identifying and evaluating potential technologies for transition to end-user organizations
  • Measuring progress of technical and programmatic objectives in alignment with Goals, Objectives and Requirements documents and Roadmaps by identifying, collecting, and evaluating metrics and figures of merit
  • Assess and advise DNN R&D as it relates to National Labs and the Nevada National Security Site in addressing requirements and needs of end-user organizations
  • Communicate assessments (written and verbal) that provide information to decision makers in support of the program and U.S. national security goals.
  • Reach back across Aerospace's Subject Matter Expert population to bring state of the art tools and approaches to the challenges of the program

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • BS degree from an accredited program in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in R&D, systems analysis, and/or systems engineering
  • Experience working with U.S. government agencies such as DOD or DOE/NNSA/DNN
  • Comfortable working with, and reporting directly to, executive management and key stakeholders
  • Availability to travel domestically
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
