SYSTEMS SECURITY ENGINEER (RDTE-21-1225-Z): Bowhead is seeking a Systems Security Engineer in Dahlgren, VA. This role will assure all Information Systems (IS), Government desktops, and corporate network components, unclassified and classified, adhere to and are certified in accordance with the latest versions of guidance such as NAVSEA, DoN, DoD, US CYBERCOM, and other relevant guidance, such as DoD 8500 series, NAVSEAINST 5239.1, and DOD Inst. 5200.40. Essential functions for the Systems Security Engineer include, but are not limited to: • Provide technical assistance to the Government in assuring compliance with all policies, guidance, and recommendations stipulated and promulgated by the NSWCDD ISSM. • Recommend and develop draft IA and system security procedures and practices, in accordance with the NSWCDD Information Assurance and Compliance Office standards, and administer approved procedures and practices. • Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend corrective security measures for network access points. • Perform daily physical inspections and document the inspection on the PDS daily report. • Develop PDS Approval Request packages for new PDSs and update PDS Daily Inspection Procedures. • Assist the Facilities Manager with facilities and infrastructure planning, Infrastructure Management Board planning and reporting, Facilities Tactical Group inspections and follow-through, Capital Improvement Program planning, and Basic Facilities Requirements (BFRs) as these BFRs address IT and network planning and build-out. Requirements • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in systems design, development and integration preferred. • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level III Certification • Knowledge of COTS networking infrastructure to include Ethernet, fiber optic, telephony cabling and wireless network technologies. • Understanding of DoD Directive 8100.02, Committee on National Security Systems Advisory Memorandum (CNSSAM) TEMPEST/01-13, RED/BLACK Installation Guidance, and a general understanding of the DoD/DoN TEMPEST program. • Be able to conduct physical inspections to ensure compliance with Red/Black separation requirements and provide suggested remedies. • Strong oral and written communication skills. DESIRED SKILLS: • Knowledge of RDT&E and/or tactical systems • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
