Content Developer

Works with subject matter experts (SME) to define client training needs. Designs/creates/updates basic/routine training materials as directed by team lead. Creates and tests computer-based training (CBT) and/or instructor-led and printable training materials to support the client mission. Participates as a member of a remote team with remote leadership, staying flexible to switch roles as projects progress.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engaging, informative, and visually compelling in-person and online learning experiences.
  • Develop, update, and maintain instructional materials for new trainings such as lesson plans/curriculum, user and instructor guides, handouts, practical exercises, quizzes, surveys, and other necessary materials that are effective in assisting adults, uniformed personnel, clients, and other employees learn the skills they require.
  • Prepare quality deliverables; pay meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness when creating and proof-reading content.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in producing and editing videos, audio recording, and audio editing. Expert in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and other popular training content development software.
  • Create and test CBT courses using Adobe Captivate.
  • Interact with multiple stakeholders (ASM, AFS, FRTIB, and others) from a remote work setting. Attend meetings as part of internal and external collaboration.
  • Maintains work availability between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm ET.
  • Partners with managers and subject-matter experts (SME) to guide and direct support for the development of training plans, identify learning objectives for courses, and to identify and/or obtain sources of information for development of course material.
  • Gathers information from application functional analysts, application owners, and/or subject matter experts to update lesson plans, practical exercises, learning objectives, handouts, and other materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience developing and delivering training courses to a variety of audiences.

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a solid knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Authoring ability using Adobe Captivate software.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.
  • Self-editing skills and content creation using established style guides.
  • Experience working with remote teams and leadership.
  • Ability to interact with and switch between teams and projects with minimal warning as project phases evolve.
  • Actively participates in peer review sessions and offers constructive comment with the intent of improving the team's products and services.
  • Supports team ideas and initiatives that contribute to the success of the customer program/project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with a solid knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, syntax, and grammar.
  • Familiar with 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Works autonomously or with a team: able to assume responsibility and motivate colleagues to reach the highest standards possible.
  • Exhibits professional courtesy at all times, and must be able to interact with other individuals of different levels of expertise.
