Overview

SR. SOFTWARE ENGINEER (GEAR-22-1340-W):

Bowhead seeks a Sr. Software Engineer to support the GRIDS III Geospatial Systems Engineering (GEAR) contract located in Fort Belvoir, VA. The Sr. Software Engineer will create and analyze highly complex software engineering architectures and designs and provide functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems, including, but not limited to application software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities may include:
  • Participates in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.
  • Demonstrate the technical background and skills to perform in all phases of software design, development, documentation, and implementation. Ability to design and develop advanced networking techniques.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of software engineering and programming for large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting broad base of applications.
  • Perform analysis, design, and coding methodologies; documentation standards; configuration management; DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements; real-time operating systems, distributed systems, modeling and simulation; data base design and management, and resource utilization assessment.
  • Work in highly complex areas where ingenuity and creativity are required to provide solutions to major design problems.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in computer science, Information systems, Engineering, business or related scientific or technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in related discipline
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret SCI level. US Citizenship is a requirement for admission to these locations.
