PotomacWave is seeking a Defense Travel System Specialist II to join our team supporting a Federal Client at Fort Belvoir, VA!
Responsibilities:Provide DTS Tier Two Help Desk Support.- Support the office in manning a DTS Tier Two Help Desk.
- Support Authorizing Officials (AO), Certifying Officials (CO), ODTAs and DTS users (i.e., travelers) with DTS technical and administrative issues.
- Make recommendations on what issues shall be referred to the Tier 3 Help Desk, develop frequently asked questions and answers and draft standard operating procedures (SOP) for the DTS Help Desk for Government review and approval.
- Update the DTS Help Desk SOP quarterly to reflect changes in laws related to official travel, travel regulations, and Joint Staff policies.
- Update the frequently asked questions and answers data bank as required on the basis of recurring issues or questions.
- Coordinate and Implement DTS Updates.
- Support the office in the implementation of future releases of DTS updates or upgrades.
- Support shall include researching the impact of proposed changes or updates to the Joint Staff.
- Deliver a DTS future release document detailing the proposed changes and the impact of such changes to the Joint Staff.
- Support the Lead Defense Travel Administrator (LDTA).
- Support the Lead Defense Travel Administrator with DTS administrative tasks. These tasks shall include: updating DTS profiles and routing lists based on the in/out processing of Joint Staff personnel; verifying the Lines of Accounting (LOA) loaded in DTS are accurate; verifying budgets are appropriately loaded in DTS; and analyzing DTS-generated reports and documenting changes.
- Perform monthly sampling on ten percent of all vouchers filed to verify compliance DOD regulations.
- Perform annual audits of the DD Form 577 on all directorates or as directed by the Lead Defense Travel Administrator.
- Plan, Coordinate and Perform DTS Recurring Training.
- Draft and implement a DTS training plan for government review and approval for the continued operation of DTS.
- Perform initial and recurring DTS training for AOs, COs, directorate level administrators and DTS users (i.e., travelers).
- Conduct monthly training classes as needed.
- Provide the Government with a monthly training report detailing the number of personnel trained and the type of training received (i.e., AO/CO; directorate level administrators; DTS users).
- Provide Lead Defense Travel Administrator monthly report of all accountable officials with expired training.
- Advise the LDTA on DoD Travel Best Practices.
- Provide travel business process assessment support.
- Support INSCOM Financial Operations in conducting process assessments on travel processes affected by the sustainment of DTS.
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing DTS Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA) support
- Substitute five (5) additional years of DTS ODTA experience for an Associate’s degree and Travel Certificate Program Certification
- Working knowledge of DoD Financial Management Regulations (FMR) and Joint Travel Regulations (JTR)
- Experience conducting manual travel processes
- Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military/civilian officials, managers, and subordinates
