Malawis Pizza is a fast-casual, gourmet pizza restaurant located in Fredericksburg, VA and our team is currently seeking to fill positions for Front of House and Back of House Shift Leaders/Managers with full-time, weekend and holiday availability. Our customized artisan pizzas are served hot and fresh from our stone oven with our specially created signature doughs, delicious sauces and dressings, and only the freshest toppings available.

The Shift Leader/Manager is a brand representative for the restaurant and is responsible for upholding the company goals, visions and mission statement at all times while ensuring our standards of quality and service to the staff and patrons. Malawis is Pizza with a Purpose - for every meal purchased in our restaurant, we automatically donate a nutritious meal to a child in Malawi, Africa. Its one-to-one, and its a measurable impact that is saving lives. This is at the very backbone of our company.

The position of Shift Leader/Manager is an integral part of our management team and will be expected to prioritize the organization, training and leadership necessary to uphold the highest level of guest service satisfaction and staff development.

The selected candidate must be goal-oriented and lead our team in achieving company objectives to include meeting sales goals, maintaining food quality, and ensuring that all safety, sanitation and food handling standards are consistently met. They will also be responsible for making sure that all state laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages are strictly adhered to including staff training and certification.

We are looking for candidates that can lead, empower, inspire and challenge themselves and others to do better every day. The right candidate must have attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.

This position requires 2 “ 4 years of supervisory experience in a food service or retail environment and a SERV Safe Certification. If a candidate is qualified without SERV Safe they will be expected to take and pass the certification exam within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills

Manages operations of the restaurant, which includes daily decision-making, flexibility, staff support, guest interaction and effective planning while upholding standards, product quality, and cleanliness

Leads by example and coaches the staff in achieving sales and event goals

Actively listens/ engages with guest interaction and employees

Effectively directs and develops the staff

Maintains staffing/ scheduling at standard labor ratios

Maintains an upbeat presence during operations

Conducts staff meetings when necessary, shift meetings every day and keeps staff informed of new developments and upcoming events

Ensures all staff members adhere to the company's policies/ standards

Ensures a safe working and guest experience environment to reduce the risk of incident, injury and food handling related issues

Ensures proper security procedures are in place to protect staff members, guests and company assets

Controls the inventory process by managing ordering/receiving and invoice accuracy

Actively participates in manager meetings

Ability to bend, stoop, stand, twist, lift products and supplies weighing up to 65 pounds on a constant basis
