Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical practice located in Central Park Fredericksburg VA is looking for a highly motivated surgical/dental assistant. Our office will sponsor for DAANCE certification after nine months of employment we are not opposed in training the right candidate who has dental/surgical center experience. Prior DAANCE certification would include more generous compensation.

The candidate must be organized, dependable and hardworking. Commonwealth of Virginia X-Ray certification as well as current CPR is a must. Only serious candidates need apply. This is a full time position averaging 36-40 hours a week. We offer medical/healthcare insurance after 3 months of employment as well as paid vacation, holidays, sick and personal leave.

Job Summary

Under OMS supervision, prepares for and performs complex clinical duties following procedures in the operatory and consult rooms. All surgical assistants must strive to present themselves as professionals while carrying out their duties and responsibilities. Through teamwork, surgical assistants keep the office flow moving in a smooth and efficient manner, while maintaining a positive, respectful and caring attitude toward our patients, the OMS and co-workers

1. Prepare operatories, consult rooms and trays for all procedures

2. Greet and seat patients with confidence and assurance

3. Prepare and recover surgical patients'. Place monitors and take and record vital signs.

4. Take digital x-rays and CBCT's.

5. Assist OMS with surgical procedures as well as consultations and post op appointments.

6. Verify and document patients' medical and dental information.

7. Scrub, sterilize and package instruments.

8. Comfortable in answering phones and assist front desk in various duties.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Familiar with anatomy and medical, dental terminology.

3. Current CPR Certification

4. Radiation Safety Certification

5. Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills

Physical Requirements

1. Ability to read and verbally communicate in English

2. Possess manual dexterity for assisting.

3. Capable of lifting 25 pounds

4. Must be able to support and assist sedated patients
