Small law practice in Fredericksburg, Virginia with two attorneys, is seeking a legal assistant/office manager. If you do not meet the requisite requirements, please do not apply.

Hours: Monday - Wednesday- Friday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (starting) hours subject to change (Hours may be different during training) currently up to 20 hours per week. Hours may increase for the right candidate up to 34 hours per week.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Provide administrative and clerical support for two (2) attorneys, draft simple and complex legal documents, prepare discovery, legal research and writing, interacting with attorneys, courts, office personnel and other third parties, position requires legal knowledge and experience; prior experience in family law, business law, estate planning, bankruptcy, immigration and personal injury a plus;other duties as assigned.

Ideal candidate must be comfortable talking to clients, prospects, court personnel, attorneys and other third parties, able to work independently with little direction, proactive, professional demeanor, flexible, patient, team player, work well in high-pressure situations; ability to work in a face paced environment and pick up difficult material quickly a must; must have extensive research and legal writing skills and experience with Lexis Nexis desired; must be able to work independently with at times little to no direction; will have keen attention to detail and professional demeanor, attention to detail, work well under pressure and high volume of work, ability to follow directions, enthusiastic, have a desire to learn and a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and integrity a must, great organizational skills, must be punctual, dependable, and a team player.

Assisting in maintaining office organization, ensuring supplies are stocked, monitoring other support staff ensuring stay on task, coordinating administrative duties, ensure office runs smoothly, clean and orderly. Other duties as assigned.

Fluency in Spanish and prior small firm experience are required

Must have computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, exceptional legal writing, legal research and typing skills. Experience in a business, family, collections, civil litigation, estate planning, immigration, personal injury, and/or bankruptcy law firm strongly desired. Strong work ethic, desire to learn, and to provide the best product and service is vital. Must have legal experience, extensive familiarity with legal terms, and drafting legal documents and legal research.

Some travel may be required. Must have own transportation.

Required:

1-3 years of experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary or paralegal

Ability to understand and draft simple and complex legal documents

Strong analytical abilities/ legal analysis

Strong legal research and writing capabilities

Strong consulting, writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment.

Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.

Keen attention to detail and professional demeanor, must be punctual, dependable

Ability to work efficiently with little to no supervision

Must be able to type and be proficient with a computer

Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills

Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and use independent judgment

Excellent verbal and written (including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofreading)

Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff

Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills

Conscientious worker with ability to plan, organize, and execute

Ability to handle escalated issues in a timely and professional manner and remain calm under pressure

Self-starter and have an ability to see the process through from start to finish

Capable of handling a large number of calls and e-mails

Must be able to analyze a situation and respond quickly in a courteous and professional manner

Ability to work with confidential information

Reliable transportation

Prior Office Management experience or other leadership experience

Rate: $13.00-$15.00 based on demonstrated experience and skills

Required : Bilingual (Spanish)/ Writing and Speaking
