HopeTree Family Services has an immediate opening for a Full-Time - Night Direct Support Professional in Fredericksburg, VA. This position supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Group Home setting.

This position will generally work a rotating schedule of three days on / three days off and every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

Provide a secure and responsive environment that enables each individual to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities

Provide guidance regarding social skills, transportation, health/personal hygiene, food preparation and housekeeping

Supports each resident in meeting outcomes as noted in the Individual Support Plan (ISP)

Demonstrates a working knowledge of and complies with Medical Policies and Procedures

Supports residents in all medical needs and monitors each resident's well-being

Demonstrates a working knowledge of and complies with Human Rights Rules and Regulations

Protects resident's rights and assists with understanding and asserting rights

Manages and administers medications according to instruction and as ordered by attending physicians

Demonstrates the ability to work with all staff to accomplish desired results using tact, cooperation, teamwork and communication skills.

Attends required training to ensure compliance and monitors required training needs

Establishes and maintains supportive family communication and relationships.

Maintains professional boundaries with participants, families, employees and supervisor

Ability to exercise independent judgement with respect to carrying our duties of the job

Documents hourly resident checks and maintains safety of the home

Requirements:

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience or education in mental health, human services or related field is preferred

Demonstrated leadership ability, emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities

Good verbal, written and computer skills

Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record

Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner within the community

Background checks and pre-employment drug testing
