Systems Engineer to join our team to perform engineering development and design work to integrate multiple technology solutions such as software, hardware, and data security in support of biometric systems. Interacts with client engineers, responds to technical questions and requests from customers, and may lead implementation projects at customer site. Contribute to the design of Department of Defense (DoD) systems architectures, and support test and evaluation efforts. Integrate into a high-functioning, robust, and multi-disciplinary team that maintains a great relationship with the customer and Fleet.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize visualization tools to show traceability of system requirements and applications to the technical doctrine
  • Work within a team to derive system requirements and associated documentation.
  • Analyze requirements to ensure traceability to capability needs and technical doctrine.
  • Manage system requirements including the development of requirement traceability matrices (RTMs)
  • Develop system models including DoDAF artifacts and UML models (e.g., Function Flow Block Diagrams).
  • Support the development of system and design documentation
  • Demonstrate solid analytical problem-solving techniques to complete tasks supporting system development.
  • Utilize high-performance computing hardware to execute analysis of biometric algorithm performance.
  • Develop source code for scripts in Windows/Unix to execute algorithm analysis
  • Analyze biometric data to determine optimum operating points and characterize algorithm performance (e.g., DET curves)
  • Analyze system design and test results against developed models and architecture.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 3-5 years of System engineering experience
  • Requirements management
  • MagicDraw

Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Strong research skills
  • Background in statistics and/or data science
  • Proficiency with the software used for data analysis is desired (e.g., Excel, R)
  • Ability to read (i.e., comprehend) and write scientific publications
  • Familiarity with the evaluation of binary classifiers including:
    • Calculating associated metrics (False Positive Rate, False Negative Rate, etc.)
    • Utilizing common data visualization techniques (Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves, Detection Error Tradeoff (DET) graphs, etc.)
    • Calculating confidence intervals
    • Ability to design experimental procedures that achieve a desired level of confidence
  • Familiarity with biometric verification and identification
  • Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification
  • ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011 standards
  • Automated Biometric Identification Systems
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology
  • Military Standards and Specifications
  • The Defense Forensics & Biometrics Agency
  • Biometric Interoperability Standards Conformance Office

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines

Minimum Clearance: Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance

Travel

: 2% - While not anticipated, travel could be required to assist the program as needed.
