Job Summary

A Project and Design Engineer II or Ill is needed to support the Digital Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) efforts at North Anna Power Station by working in cross-functional teams to manage the digital instrumentation and controls upgrades of the plant systems through engineering, procurement, contract management, planning, construction, and closeout. There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

•SLR digital program performs major modifications, replacements, and upgrades to existing nuclear power plant controls systems. •This position will be based at Innsbrook, but travel to North Anna Power Station will be required on a routine basis. •The position as a project engineer would support the project management team by supporting and driving the specific technical scope and design of the project including through all phases of the design, construction, testing, and commissioning. •As part of the coordination plant commissioning process including safety, development of system turnover packages, system walkdowns, punch list management, coordination with operations and system documentation. •The primary focus of the role is to be a technical lead for Digital l&C upgrades, including supporting infrastructure development and control room modifications. •May support other SLR related projects or other duties as requested or assigned. •Reports to Supervisor of North Anna Power Station Nuclear Projects for the SLR Projects Group, Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

•Engineer II: Minimum 3yrs electrical, industrial, or computer engineering experience is required. •Engineer III: Minimum 5yrs electrical, industrial, or computer engineering experience is required. •Detailed technical knowledge of large power plant systems and equipment and operations is desired. •Demonstrated knowledge and experience of major power plants, instrumentation and controls, and equipment including but not limited to boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation, and other balance-of plant systems is desired. •Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management, relevant technologies, and leadership in the assigned project areas. •Some station and engineering experience preferred. •Must have good technical and cost management skills. •Strong communication and integration skills are required. •Ability to coordinate processes and provide leadership in a team environment. •Ability to analyze information and made sound decisions. •Demonstrated computer skills.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. A Master's Degree will count as one year toward the years of experience.

Education Requirements

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

•Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or •Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or •Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or •Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
