Apex Systems is supporting a Healthcare client here in Richmond, Virginia and they are seeking a SQL DBA (contract opportunity) seeking a fast-paced environment and ready to hit the ground running. This resource will be supporting an SQL Server migration project from on-premise to Azure. This position will start remotely, but eventually transition on-site after COVID-19. Candidates must be able to comfortable commute to Richmond, Virginia, or be open to relocate after the pandemic.

- When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Provide code reviews to make sure the database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance
- Support release processes for assigned projects/development team(s)
- Identify and analyze data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure data integrity
- Work within a scrum team to complete any necessary development tasks
- Support the Data management team in production loading and release processes
- Availability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation as needed
- Execute SQL Server admin tasks
- Administration of SQL Server permissions across multiple environments
- Support SSIS configuration and deployment
- Promote automation, optimization, and operational efficiencies
- And other duties as assigned
- 5+ years experience with MS-SQL administration and development functions is required
- 3+ years experience administering enterprise-level production MS-SQL servers and databases
- Expert knowledge of DBA techniques and day to day job functions is required
- Hands on experience with SQL Server 2008/2012/2014 is required
- Experience with Source Control and code release process
- Experience in working with and troubleshooting SSIS packages
- Experience with data mining, monitoring, and tuning with very large data sets is a plus
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Previous experience with Red Gate database tools is a plus
- Previous work with Agile Scrum environment is a plus
- Expert in SQL scripting, stored procedures, and construction of highly complex queries
- Ability to utilize various tools to troubleshoot DB Environment.
- Ability to efficiently tune, debug, troubleshoot SQL code
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as {{Git / Mercurial / SVN}}
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to clearly articulate solution alternatives
- Flexibility to work in an interrupt driven production support environment
- Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication for representation of clear and concise results.
- Be able to collaborate effectively, work closely within a coordinated team environment, and maintain composure while dealing with time sensitive deadlines
- Ability to perform under pressure and juggle multiple projects at the same time.
