Balzer and Associates, Inc. is seeking individuals to become part of the land surveying department as land surveyors and technicians. This includes field work, office work and research work. Field work will include topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction staking and title surveys. Office work will include processing and transferring data to and from the field survey equipment, calculations and preparation of data for construction stake out and drafting of plats. Research will include gathering of recorded deeds and plats, both online and in person at the courthouse of various jurisdictions.

The Survey technician assists Land Surveyor in planning, organizing, and directing work of one ore more survey parties engaged in surveying earth's surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes by performing the following duties.

Job Requirements

Essential functions:

Confers by telephone, writing or in person with Land Surveyor, clients, colleagues, public officials, contractors and others to ensure satisfactory performance of survey work.

Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.

Visits sites to consider physical evidence.

Assists Crew Chief as dictated by workload or need to assist in training of crews.

Must have experience in use of personal computers and various types of surveying/drafting software.

Performs calculations on computer to establish property lines, physical locations, contour lines, and stakeouts.

Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe work performed.

Coordinates findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project.

Assists in the care and maintenance of survey equipment.

AutoCAD experience a plus.

Bachelors or Associates degree in related field a plus.
