The Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design, development, and integrity of program networks. The candidate will provide expert technical assistance to team members, when necessary, to troubleshoot/resolve tier-3 system and networking requests. Develop and maintain functional and secure networks. Candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Confer with management and staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement projects of moderate risk and complexity.
  • Configure and install various network devices, i.e., firewalls, routers, switches, as well as various servers (NTP, console, NMS, TACACS+, Radius, etc.)
  • Monitor network performance and integrity
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Mentor team members on technical issues
  • Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Communicate with users when needed
  • Maintain complete technical documentation
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability

Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI w/poly
  • Bachelor college degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems) or equivalent working experience
  • At least 5 years of direct industry-related experience as a Network Engineer or Network Architect; ability to write ASA and router scripts
  • Networking (Network+, CCNA, CCNP)
  • Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA)
  • Solid background in networks, engineering, and architecture
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly ICMP, TCP/IP, UDP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
  • Familiarity with access control models and Network Security
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
  • Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, ASA OS)
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills
  • Organizational and mentoring skills
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in VMWare and Cloud Computing (AWS) is a plus.
  • The ability to work with minimum oversight
