We are seeking for a team player with solid technical skills to work with our team of smart, creative, and dedicated engineering team-members. This position is based out of our Herndon, VA location with the option of a remote work schedule. The DevOps engineer role is part of a team to develop and maintain our build infrastructure using hybrid clouds based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and local servers. The ideal candidate will have a background in programming, good communication skills, and the ability to learn quickly. We value creativity, problem solving, logical thinking, teamwork, and enthusiasm for new technologies. You will work independently as well as collaboratively with software developers, managers, scrum masters, and product owners.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains software-defined build infrastructure for continuous integration and delivery, from source code control to final software artifacts.
  • Performs both manual and automated tasks to deliver software releases.
  • Enables and maintains self-service tools for software development.
  • Performs manual build testing and troubleshooting build issues as needed.
  • Provides support to our Engineering team.
  • Works within an Agile development environment and participates in quarterly planning, various scrum meetings, and other meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience with Linux and Windows OS
  • Experience with Docker containers and virtual machines
  • Experience with scripting/programming languages
  • Experience with source code control tools (Bitbucket, Github , etc.)
  • Familiar with any cloud infrastructure
  • Familiar with configuration tools (Ansible, Chef, Terraform, etc.)
  • Familiar with automated pipelines (Jenkins etc.)
  • Familiar with basic network configuration

Additional experience in the following areas is a plus
  • Amazon Web Services, or other cloud services
  • Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory
  • Jenkins pipelines
  • Chef, Packer, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Conan (C/C package manager), CMake , Make, Scons
  • Linux / Windows system administration
Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other technical field.
