Job Description
pureIntegration is looking for a talented engineer with strong Linux and scripting experience and a desire to grow DevOps, automation and integration skillset while helping customers automate critical tasks within their enterprise. The initial responsibility of the engineer will be to work with Puppet Enterprise to develop automation, maintain topology and enforce desired state across large enterprise customers. While Puppet experience is a plus, demonstrable understanding of Linux administration fundamentals as well as scripting expertise in languages such as Ruby, Python or shell is required. Experience with other Infrastructure as Code or Configuration Management toolsets, such as Ansible, Terraform and Chef is also a plus.Responsibilities:- Build Puppet Enterprise expertise across architecture, deployment and maintenance, and automation creation
- Gain knowledge of the configuration management and DevOps landscape; build skillset in appropriate tools to advance personal expertise and meet customer objectives
- Build understanding of Desired State Management theory and best practice; consult and instruct customers on the adoption of these practices and technologies that enable them
- Taking direction from pureIntegration architects and customer engineering teams, develop automation in Puppet Enterprise and other automation tooling to meet project objectives
- Collaborate on development of Puppet modules using standard software development lifecycle techniques including source control management and peer review processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in underlying Puppet Enterprise architectures, and associated tech stack such as Linux and Networking
- Participate in customer meetings, including Agile ceremonies
- Maintain statuses of Agile user stories
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Equivalent
- Strong Linux and networking fundamentals
- Demonstrable experience in scripting or development in languages such as Ruby, Python, Shell or higher level languages
- Experience in Puppet Enterprise administration or module development is a plus
- Understanding of working in an Agile environment is a plus
- Experience in traditional SDLC and source code management with Git is a plus
- Experience with other DevOps or automation platforms and tools - Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Artifactory
- Strong understanding of network and security concepts
- Strong scripting skills (Ruby, Python, Shell)
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality that follows best practices
- A passion for learning and adapting to new technologies
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Ability to see the bigger picture, not just the piece you are working on
