Maxar is seeking a Software Engineer to join one of our recognized teams that combines software development, system engineering, and geospatial tradecraft to support the US Government with Foundation GEOINT feature curation. While our customer and team is primarily based in DC Metro Region, this role can be performed remotely for the right candidate. Project : Maxar has developed and maintains a collaborative mapping platform rooted in open source technology under the direction of the customer, including an open-source application that supports geospatial feature conflation, translation, and transformation ( www.github.com/ngageoint/hootenanny ). You will be joining our core C backend development team for this project, where you will have the freedom to design and engineer new solutions to best meet customer requirements at the highest standard of quality. Your job will be to collaborate on technical design and implementation of services, take technical ownership of features and projects, and interface with a team of skilled front end, UI/UX, back end, and DevOps engineers. You will take part in and contribute to technical direction and the day-to-day agile process. You should have a strong technical background with a desire to continue growing your technical acumen. - Proactively analyze and contribute improvements to support the deployment process.
- Support the DevOps team to maintain CI/CD solutions for rapid application development and integration.
- Collaborate between various technical and non-technical teams to transform customer requests into deployed features.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to understand user and programmatic needs.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (4 years of experience would be considered in lieu of a degree).
- At least 5 years of related work experience.
- Deep knowledge with object-oriented development, specifically C.
- Experience with source configuration management tools such as Git.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and ability to communicate hardware and software requirements, configurations, and limitations to customer and development team.
- Experience with CI/CD development and administering automated building environments such as Jenkinsand CircleCI.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Docker, Vagrant, VirtualBox or VMWare).
- Experience with open source application deployment and maintenance.
- Experience and knowledge with GIS methodologies and applications, especially OpenStreetMap.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, and Shell scripting.
- Experience with AWS services, such as EC2, IAM, S3, and VPC.
- Basic LINUX system administration (RedHat/CentOS).
- Experience with PostgreSQL and database management.
- Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube or Fortify.
- Knowledge of performance and dynamic memory analysis tools, such as Valgrind
